What is the difference between a Business Manager and a Business Development Manager in a private company. What are their responsibilities?

One manages the existing business at hand.  One manages the growth or expansion of the business.

As far as I'm concerned, a business manager would head up the operations of a business or business unit.  He would be responsible for that business or business unit in terms of the budgeting, the activity, the performance, etc.A business development manager would play a more strategic role.  They would be the person to look for new business opportunities, new clients/customers, and to secure work for the coming months/years.
